Regionals and TV Schedule Updates
April 10th 2015
First, we’re excited to announce that we have re-engineered our upcoming broadcast schedule to maximize our impact on ESPN2 and ESPN. The new airing schedule will look like this for original episodes:
July 29, 9 p.m. EST/6 p.m. PST - 2015 Regionals Competition
Aug. 5, 9 p.m. EST/6 p.m. PST - Weight Class Championship 1
Aug. 12, 9 p.m. EST/6 p.m. PST - Weight Class Championship 2
Aug. 19, 9 p.m. EST/6 p.m. PST - Weight Class Championship 3
Aug. 26, 9 p.m. EST/6 p.m. PST - Weight Class Championship 4
*Note, this schedule does not include all the multiple re-airs of each episode, including the same night re airs for each of the above at midnight EST.
In that schedule you’ll see the 2015 Regionals will air as one massive, record-breaking episode, and this is a great thing for WAL: instead of breaking the Regionals up into multiple episodes that could compete with each other on the same night, we’ll focus all our attention on the giant brawl to see who makes the weight-class Championships — which will each now also get their own, dedicated airing week, where we can present the uniqueness of each class and feature more competitors.
For bringing viewers and new fans to the sport, this is a huge advantage for all of us, as we have a weekly time slot where an audience can always find us. We’re excited about the lineup. Set your DVR’s!
Our Regionals competition schedule is now set. The weekend will go like this:
THURSDAY & FRIDAY
Weigh-ins / Registration 3 p.m. - 7 p.m. Excalibur Hotel & Casino
9 am - noon: Western Region
1 pm - 4 pm: Southern Region
4 pm - 7 pm: Northern Region
SUNDAY - same order, but the timing is likely a little faster, so we need all our Sunday competitors on site on a slightly advanced schedule:
9 am - 11: Western Finals
11 am - 1 pm: Southern Finals
2 pm - 5 pm: Northern Finals
We will continue to use our double bracket system, but we will not stop at a “semi-final” level to move to the pit. All matches for places 1-6 will take place in The Pit on Sunday. Pull-offs for places 7 and 8 will take place on Saturday.
Don’t forget we are using the running foul system. Please see THIS VIDEO for a short tutorial on those rules.
For questions, please contact Lindsey Cleys at email@example.com and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
Thanks everyone and we’ll see you in Las Vegas!
