About Frode Haugland
Frode started armwrestling at the age of 16 and took to the sport like a natural, due to his raw strength and competitive nature. His rise to the top was swift, and it only took him two years of competing before he won the Norwegian Men’s National Championships at the age of 18. Frode still remains unbeaten in the Norwegian Nationals and doesn’t look like getting beat any time soon!
Despite dominating Norwegian armwrestling Frode only considered testing himself outside of his home country after a call from legendary British armwrestler Neil Pickup. Neil praised Frode for his ability and asked him to compete in a supermatch series. This was a game changer for Frode as the recognition from Neil and opportunity to compete internationally was the next step he was looking for.
Over time, Frode fell in love with supermatches and in doing so decided to quit pulling in tournament-based competitions in order to focus on training for the most elite matches out there. Frode explains “I fell in love with the format so much I quit competing in other traditional armwrestling tournaments, I now just want to focus on elite guys, I want to get better and better and beat the best in the world”. As a WAL competitor Frode will now have the opportunity to take on the world’s best, so watch out for the Norwegian!
